Never throw in the towel , no matter your age.
Never throw in the towel , no matter your age.
Yes guys I say to you today no matter what you do, do not give up on your dreams. All too often we live lives of others, people we were not meant to be. We follow what others expect of us and what they think what would be good for us, so we follow like lambs to the slaughter. We then resign to this is my faith what can I do.
We will gain momentum
Bullshit guys complete and utter bullshit. You have one life only one and you should live your life the way you want to and this is final. Too many of us sit and complain that no one understands us, we just do not have the time etc; this is not true. If we start doing the rights things we will gain momentum.
First we notice nothing but if we continue doing the right things after awhile we will notice guys and we will notice the momentum and how we are gaining more momentum. You ever notice how you are with friends and you have had a long day and they are speaking about something you do not find interesting you become more tired very quickly right? On the other hand same scenario but they are speaking about something that you have a passion for yes you are full of energy and are very eager. Does this example remind you of your life??????
You see I believe one of the biggest mistakes with our society and education systems is that we do not know what our students are truly passionate about. Of course we arm them with the tools to survive is this world but we fail desperately to give them the tools to find their passion and to be happy.
Fantastic potential we humans possess
As result we are left with many unhappy and misguided individuals which really is a waste of the fantastic potential we humans possess. You see many of us in the words of Bruce Springsteen “ and they bring me up to do what daddy done” or our uncle or aunt, you see the point I making. Many of us when we are at the stage of life to make important decisions like choosing a career or education path are not capable to make such decision so we are easily influenced and off to university we go on what others feel we could do. Many of these influencers may very well have your best intentions at heart but you know the saying of good intentions “the road to hell is paved with good intentions” This of course has other ramifications we are studying something that does not excite we get jobs that do not excite but we are getting paid and we set up a comfortable life and just get through it.
Guys Guys Guys !!!
Guys Guys Guys !!! lets make the change lets be bold and start living the lives we want or at the very least let us plan to change our existing lives to what we want. You see you can take baby steps and get where you want in 5 to 10 years and the thing is this will never happen if you do not decided otherwise you will just coast through life miserable and unsatisfied.
Now I know people will say to you can’t do it and they will say who do you think you are all the usual bs. Let’s be honest here for a second these people are not happy themselves, so why on earth would you leave them influence you. When I hear things like this I hear Bob Proctor whisper “what you see in your mind you can hold in your hand”
You see we are human and we can be weak and will take the easy option that’s why we are here in this position guys. I say to you, you can be what you want no matter what stage of life you are at. You just have to make the decision and put a strategy in place to achieve. I assure you will get there but make no mistake it takes work and dedication and continuous investment in yourself.
Jim Carey the great Hollywood comedian
You have to set the time make the time but you must understand that you need a big enough goal that inspire you to make it happen. This reminds me of the story of Jim Carey the great Hollywood comedian. Jim believed that we would make 10 million dollars by a certain date and what he did was write out a cheque to himself for 10 million and he kept the cheque is his pocket to remind himself of the commitment he has made. What happened? the night before the cheque was to expire Jim Carey made 10 million dollars for his part in “Dumb and Dumber”. So now you see, you need belief you need a reminder, you need to keep taking steps no matter how small you need to push to your dreams.
You are never too old
I think the one that makes me saddest of all is your too old, the fact is you are never too old. Think about this when you are 30 and think of 25 you go woah I was young but at the time people may be saying your pushing on when you are 40 you think of 30 and say was I so young and as you can appreciate it gets worse as you get older when you 50 and think of 40 you say again was in I so young but at the time you had the opportunity to follow your dream but you said I m too old to change now.
So you see where I am heading guys no matter what age you are you take the leap you believe and the path will rise up to meet you have no fear on that.
Let me highlight some people that never gave up and did not let age dictate their expectations.
Frank McCourt
Everyone knows ‘Angela’s Ashes’, the story of Frank McCourt’s dire childhood, for which he received both the Pulitzer Prize and the National Books Critics Circle Award. A movie was made from his book, which became rather successful and thus also gave the novel another boost. What most people don’t know, however, is that Frank McCourt didn’t take up writing until he was 65. Before that, he was a teacher and led a rather ordinary life. Now, he has museums named after him.
Frank McCourt shows that no matter how dire your circumstances, you can turn them into something good.
Ronald Reagan
Granted, Ronald Reagan was successful as an actor, yet he only became the 40th American President at the age of 70. Ronald Reagan made drastic changes in economy to help increase economic growth. This even resulted in the coining of the term ‘Reaganomics’.
Peter Roget
Peter Roget showed us that it is never too late to make earth-shattering inventions, such as the Thesaurus, which he invented at age 73. He actually used what most people would see as character flaws or issues to his success. Suffering from OCD, the only thing that would calm him down was making random lists. In the end, he simply started on the infinite project of creating a list of synonymous words.
Peter Roget’s ‘Thesaurus of English Words and Phrases’ has never been out of print since its initial appearance.
Colonel Sanders
Colonel Sanders was well over 60 when he made it big with Kentucky Fried Chicken. Before that, he simply sold chicken and other food at a service station in Corbin, Kentucky.
When the Interstate 75 was built, diverting traffic away from his restaurant, his business was close to failing. Yet Sanders believed that he could do it. Instead of despairing or muddling through somehow, he adapted. He walked the long miles, pitching his unique recipe and was even knocked back 1009 times before someone decided to give him a chance to birth what is now known today as the highly successful food chain KFC.
Kathryn Joosten
Kathryn Joosten started out as a nurse and then was a stay-at-home mum. When her marriage failed, she thought she would chase her own dreams for once and become an actress – even though many would have considered her too old to start an acting career. It took her several years and she was almost 60, when she finally had the success she deserved for her never-tiring persistence.
Kathryn appeared in countless TV shows, such as Family Matters, My Name is Earl, Scrubs, and of course Desperate Housewives, winning two Emmy Awards for her performance as Karen McCluskey.
